Slow and unstable Internet for 5 days - Constant DNS errors - New wifi Hub

James McC
First Timer

I am having issues with all devices on both wifi and hard wired direct to router.

I have spent 5 + hours on the phone trying to get this resolved , sent ping results etc.

The issue is exactly the same and we are very close to just leaving Talk Talk forever.

Technical say that there is no fault on our line.

When running download tests I get max 10 mbps down and 1 mbps up , most of the time I am getting less then 1 mbps up and down.

When browsing we get constant DNS errors , pages are slow to load or just fail entirely.

This is a constant fault.

We are supposed to get 57 mbps down and 20 mbps up as a minimum.

Can someone help us on this forum please ?

I have asked one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.

The forum is not real-time 24/7 support, so depending on how busy they are & how many are working at any one time, this can take 24 - 48 hrs (excluding weekends & limited cover on Bank Holidays). Alternatively, you can call the call centre or use online chat. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. So the fewer entries you make on your thread now, the sooner they will pick it up.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TalkTalk will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.

I am not employed by TalkTalk, I'm just a customer. If my post has fixed the issue, please mark it as the Best Answer.

Hi James McC,

I'm sorry for the delay and I'll take a look now. I've run a test on the line which hasn't detected a fault and the connection looks stable for almost 48hrs. Just to confirm, when did you last experience drops in connection?

Is the voice service ok with no noise on the line? In regards to the speed, the sync speed looks ok. Have you recently tried switching the router off for a full 30 minutes and then retested the throughput speed again? If the sync speed is ok, however the throughput speeds are much lower then we usually advise trying this as this will reset the current session.

The service went back to normal last night.
I didn't change or do anything.
No idea what this means in terms of the future reliability.

Please close the thread.

Thank you for your assistance !
