Woke up the morning of the 14th to find my sppeds were running around 6mbps , way down from 55mbps. All day long it's been hovering anywhere between 4mbps up to 26mbps. Had to restart the router and it came back briefly but then dropped off again. I'm connected direct to socket via cable on a desktop pc running windows 7. Wireless started dropping off and on, on my tablet and phone too last night and thought nothing of it and i don't know if it's part of the same problem

My sync speed may be showing that but my actual speed is totally different. At the mo it is 13.7 download and 8.2 upload using your online speed test. I know if i reboot my router it will increase my speed to 54 but why should i need to be doing that so often, that's not normal is it?

Hi jimmymumu,

Your current sync speed is 57.6Mbps, how has it been since your last post?

My speeds were fine for nearly a full week but i find it's gone back to how it was. I only get full speed if i restart my router or hard reset it. At first that would last 2 days but now, I'm having to reset it almost every day. Getting really tired of this now. Nothing has changed from my first post on this thread to now.

Hi, we had a drop on Saturday which was cured by restarting the router. It had dropped to around 18mb. Since then it is as it should be. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

If you still experience this fault following the factory reset then please post back on this thread and I will let our Network Team know.

Thanks

Whilst I'm happy there are no obvious issues, it does rather concern me that the problem still continues unresolved. I'm more than happy to do as you've asked. What happens if the problem persists with no solution?

Hi jimmymumu

Our Network Team have advised that all the line tests are passing with no issues. They also advised that the only thing they could see was that the service was down from the late hours on the 13th through to 5am on the 14th. Other than that, nothing to state any issues at all. The Ping and traceroutes you sent over are also fine so nothing to worry about there.

They have asked if you can do a factory reset and retest this evening?

Thanks

Debbie

Thanks for running the tests, did you run the ping and traceroute when the speed had dropped to 13Mbps?

Did several speed tests via the tool, all day yesterday 55mb. Then last night back down to 13mb even though nothing had changed.

Hi jimmymumu,

Can you run 3 speed tests at different times of day on the My Account speed checker on a device connected by Ethernet cable to your router (can you try to make sure that no other devices/applications accessing the internet at the time)

Can you also run a set of pings and a set of traceroutes to www.google.co.uk and can you post the results. Can you run the tests on a device connected by Ethernet cable to your router

https://help2.talktalk.co.uk/how-do-i-perform-ping-or-traceroute

Once we have this information we'll ask our network team to take a look

And as predicted it's now dropped to between 2mb and 6mb. It was 55mb till around 4ish. Something clearly not right isn't there?
