I'm looking to switch from a different network but the activation day I was provided with is before the contract with my current provider ends (in 3-4 weeks) and there is no option to change it.
Is there a way to switch so that there's no break in broadband but that I'm also not paying for two contracts at once? Or should I just wait a little longer so I'm given a date in which there will only be a few days overlap?

If you are coming from a provider that uses the phone line for broadband then two services cannot run together on the same line, so you cannot pay twice.
You will pay your old provider up until changeover date plus any early termination charges.
As TT bill in advance it is very likely your first bill will be for more that you expect as there will be a full month charged in advance plus the charges for the days from going live until your first billing date.
