Upgrading to Fibre 500

Hi,

Currently on Fibre 65 but been tempted to join Fibre 500. Ordered this last week, but found out today (after I made contact!) that this had been cancelled due to a glitch!

Whilst re-ordering, I just thought I'd check how the install would work as site suggests that engineer will be able install the Fibre Connection Box anywhere in the house - but the advisor I was talking to said it had to be by the master socket. This wouldn't work in our home as there are no power sockets near the master socket, and currently have to use one of the other sockets in the house for my internet.

Can anyone confirm whether the FCB can installed on another exterior wall in the house, or does it have to be by the master socket?

Thanks.

This was what I thought, but the advisor on chat earlier said it would have to be by the master socket, which is where the confusion came in. Luckily the fibre team cleared it up for me too.

@bigkenny , all Future Fibre products are DATA ONLY, so the old phone line would be disconnected.

@kennybase theoretically the fibre cable can come through any wall, but the installation team may have restraints as to what route they are allowed to follow from the street to your home.

All sorted thanks. Sounds like it can be brought in to the house anywhere so will get them to bring it in where I need it, near a double socket for power 😃

This is a FTTP package and not a FTTC so you would not need your phone line for it anyway? The only problem can/will they let you keep your standard phone line (if you wanted it so). I suppose they will bring it in to the nearest outside wall to where they will bring the Fibre cable to (near a Double plug socket inside)

This can only be advised by the specialist team, @kennybase, on Chat.

Hello,

I'd recommend contacting our Future Fibre Team directly via Live Chat as they should be able to confirm if this is possible.

That's great thank you - that was the link I'd been reading which is good 🙂

Does this mean then, I can choose where I like the FCB to go - it doesn't have to be where the master socket currently is? Reason is, is because the master socket is in the kitchen with no power sockets nearby, but the current modem and router are in the lounge (on an external wall) so if it could be added there behind the cupboard, that would be fine and I can restart my order.
