When we moved into our house 5 years ago, the TalkTalk website insisted we couldn't have fibre - although the BT guy told us the cabinet had definitely been upgraded. So we just went with normal broadband. The TalkTalk website does now seems to agree that it's available
If I upgrade to "Faster Fibre" for faster upload speeds in particular, what will happen? We need to avoid outages as much as possible because we are two University lecturers running online classes for students during local lockdown. Will there be an outage, if so, how long, and can I keep my existing router? (new from TalkTalk last month)
And how can I check that Fibre really is available at our address? Any advice would be gratefully received.

The upgrade will show in your online account if available, Offers and Upgrades.
If all goes to plan, you should not lose connection for more than a couple of hours.
Any router supplied in the last 3 years works with normal broadband and fibre.
