Well unfortunately I'm getting nowhere with live chat or on the phone , just the usual all are agents are busy.

I'm sorry to hear this. Unfortunately we are not able to process any cancellation requests via the Community as this is done by our Loyalty Team. I'd recommend contacting the team again this morning so they can look into this further for you.
