Installed on Wednesday LOS light Friday! 
I contacted FutureFibre team and by some miracle TalkTalk have got me an engineer appointment for tomorrow (4/12). So fingers crossed it can be sorted but not an impressive start - especially when coming from a very solid Fibre 65 connection.

Engineer visited and has fixed it. He re-did the splice outside. He said the ends of the cables were dirty and should have never been spliced like that in the first place - I did notice on the ONT some grubby marks which I wiped off after the install so clearly he had dirty hands while doing the install and has transferred dirt to the cables when splicing them. Maybe that's the difference in standards between a contractor who did the install and an Openreach engineer who fixed the install!! In all fairness hats off to TalkTalk for getting an engineer out the day after reporting the issues.
