I have a BT phone with full answerphone facility. I am with Talktalk and do not want to use the 1571 service after 1st August when it becomes chargeable. If I switch off this service, will I be able to accept voicemails on my home phone unit and listen to messages without the charge for 1571. In other words, are these 2 separate things?

Hi @Lyndyloo1

Yes you have two separate answering services.

  1. 1571 accesses the TalkTalk voicemail answering service
  2. Your own answering machine built in to the home phone is your own voicemail answering service

Just deselect the TalkTalk voicemail via MyAccount Using TalkTalk voicemail and use your own answerphone.
