Crackling sound when dialling numbers

For the last week or so, whenever I dial a number from my landline, there is a long delay to get through the number and a weird crackling noise on the line. Sending and receiving calls is ok and the line clears when connected.

I have a BT openreach MK4 master socket and have removed the face plate to test, but the phone socket will not fit.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks.

Hi Debbie,

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue.

I did try to connect the phone in the test socket, but an engineer had supplied me with an adapter because my phone cable end did not fit the original socket. This adapter would not go into the test socket because of the side of the box.

So, since I couldn’t do this, I ordered another phone which arrived yesterday and upon testing, have found that much to my relief the weird crackling noise and strange delay have disappeared. So glad the problem has been solved.

Once again, thank you for getting back to me.

Milly.

Hi milly_50

I'm really sorry to hear this.

The line tests have not detected any faults - Line test is clear.

Just to confirm, when you tried to connect the phone at the test socket did you also use a microfilter?

Thanks

Debbie
