My landline is faulty for the 2nd time in a year. An engineer fixed it before. I have tried to do a Service Status check but, it says, "Sorry, we had a problem checking your services". The 1st time it was faulty, it took me c. 3 hours of online & phone chat (and having a supposed helper hang-up) before anyone actually helped. By this time, I had been asked to unplug landlines - which meant moving a bed and going up and down stairs, I'm 86 years old and was reduced to tears. I don't want to do that again.
The landline isn't ringing properly i.e. it rings between 1 and 3 times. My callers have said that it sounds like someone picks up and then immediately hangs up. They then phone back and get the 1571 answer phone.

Line tests found an Earthing problem.
We have requested an engineer to go out to the exchange in the next 48 hours.
We can check the fault ticket on Friday for an update.
