Landline not working .Broadband (internet) does work.

My landline phone has stopped working for incoming and outgoing calls.

Broadband is working.

I have a talktalk account - I assume - bills are paid up to date it I don't know the password for it and 

have run out of attempts to set  new one.  Maybe I can ry again tomorrow.

I don't feel able to take a screwdriver to the phone socket.

Any help much appreciated.
