Line unusable - huge amount of crackling :(

I tried to use my phone today and have a huge amount of crackling on the line, to the degree that I can't hear anyone and no one can hear me. Broadband is also (unsurprisngly) not working either.

I have disconnected everything from the master socket apart from a single manual telephone (I.E. with no filter) and have the same issue.

Would it be possible for someone to help resolve this please?

Thanks,
Barry.

Hi

We've logged this out to BT Openreach for a Non Appointed engineer - Non appointed means the engineer will be dispatched to look at the line without requiring an appointment be made with you to visit your property.

Thanks

Karl.

Hi

It may be a little late to book this in for today, i'll send this back to our network teams and request the earliest appointment time but it may be after the weekend.

Thanks

I realise this is a late reply but I'm having to work through my son to receive updates and add comments etc. due to the phone line issue 😞 Yes, someone will be in today.

Again, apologies for the later response.

Hi BarryCliff

A line test has picked up a fault.

I have asked our network team to investigate.

I will ask one of TalkTalk's OCEs to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.

The forum is not real-time 24/7 support, so depending on how busy they are & how many are working at any one time, this can take 24 - 48 hrs (excluding weekends & Bank Holidays). Alternatively, you can call the call centre or use online chat. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first. So the fewer entries you make on your thread now, the sooner they will pick it up.

To save yourself time, please make sure that your community profile includes your first & last names, broadband phone number & if possible an alternative contact number. This can be done by clicking on your Avatar picture then click on "My Settings" followed by:-

Personal Profile > Personal Information

Otherwise, TT will not be able to tie up your forum username to your broadband account. Only you & TalkTalk have visibility of your details.
