I have recently received numerous phone calls with people saying that they have had missed calls from my landline. I haven't called them so can someone steal my number?

It's just as martswain advises, number spoofing is becoming a problem for all providers at some point.

It is likely you number is being spoofed.
Someone is changing their caller ID to yours so that whoever they call does not come up as withheld or unknown.
That means the call is more likely to be answered and they can then enter into a scam dialogue with whoever answers.
If dialing 17070 gets a readback of your own number and no calls are appearing on your bill that is likely to be the issue.
Check that NOW !
