Homesafe Blocking Issues

The sensible thing to do - if they had to introduce it - was to warn everybody that Homesafe would be turned on by default for all userids and then give us the option to turn it off.  But if the on/off switch didn't even work, what hope was there?? ... I do sigh at the way TalkTalk operates sometimes.

I was the first to reply when the problem was highlighted. I am a new TT customer and honestly I have had the same problem since day 1.

The *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* engineers do not care whether you have the problem or not. They dont eve bother saying if anything is getting done or not. Total disappointment. I suggest going to OFCOM if this keeps happening.

I am being asked if I want to activate HomeSafe because, I am told, I am requesting "nasty" web pages that might not be suitable for children. I have no children and if I did I would be perfectly capable of bringing them up myself without the need for moral advice from a bourgeoisie democratic corporate entity.

This is the page I am re-directed to since yesterday -

The button "No, proceed to website" does not work.<=== That is my main problem here, the button doesn't re-direct me to my requested url. I am just stuck on that hijacked webpage and can never get passed it.

Can you stop re-directing me to this page everytime I don't live up to TalkTalk's high moral standards? This page is causing me a lot of stress and wasted time. Please stop intercepting my url requests, I don't want HomeSafe and I don't need it.

"At TalkTalk we want to help you avoid these internet nasties, so we've developed HomeSafe" Really, I can't tell you how offensive that message is to me. I have no idea how any company can think directing their customers to a page with that kind of offensive sentiment is a good idea. I am not a child and don't appreciate being treated like one.

Thank you. Please get rid of that re-direct page, I am not able to do any work I am so upset by this. Plus, I am not able to access a whole load of websites *@#][!![]'#[@#]!*!

This is the page I'm being re-directed to - http://www.talktalk.co.uk/notice/offerparentalcontrols.phtml I am not interested in HomeSafe®. I was perfectly safe at home before TalkTalk decided I needed cuddling, now I have an ever present unasked for intruder watching my every move and I no longer feel safe. The passive aggressive implications of the message broadcast from the intercepted URL requested page are all too clear - You are being watched by an entity that believes it's the arbiter of morality and you are not of Good character. "At TalkTalk we want to help you avoid these internet nasties, so we've developed HomeSafe®" I am not able to access lots of sites I want to visit unless I go out of my way and by-pass the measure and that is not optimal, besides when I signed into a member website with a proxy I was banned for using an out-of-country IP. When will this be fixed? I am wasting a lot of time with this problem and wasting money too.

Hi guys,

Settled down this evening to visit http://pornhub.com as I do most days and to my unpleasent surprise, my viewing was blocked! Also, I was going to browse http://barringtons-swords.com as I was thinking of purchasing a new blade. However, to my great disapointment, this was also blocked! What is a gent to do without such websites.

I do not have any website blocking settings turned on, if anyone has a solution so I can resume my usual life, I would be most greatful.

With kind regards,

Rob

Hello, this is the first time posting in this forum, looking for solutions, try accessing certain websites (youtube, Badoo, online games, and blogs), and the disabled HomeSafe, I thought it was a problem with my computer, but come here to this thread, I see that the problem is TalkTalk, I feel disappointed and frustrated, because I have no time with this company, and reading this thread, I'm now regretting having hired this internet, I have more than 2 months this problem is very frustrating

@OCE_Karl ... isn't it about time that this problem was sorted out?  It's kind of fundamental to the service that you are supposed to provide ... and you just ain't providing it for some people at the moment.

What kind of compensation is being offered for their loss of service?

Another one here, happy with talktalk for over 4 years yet today I can't access all my usual sites because apparently Homesafe is blocking them.  I've never used Homesafe because I live alone and have no need.  Might be time to move back to Virgin or BT I think.....  Though I could do without the added hassle

Ha!  I rang talktalk and asked how much longer I had on my contract as I was unhappy with not being able to access sites because of this issue.  They put me through to a technical team and, although it was a 20 minute call, I now have access to everything again.  I would strongly suggest any one else with this issue does the same.  It seems when threatened with going elsewhere, they are more than happy to help.  And the guy I spoke to was extremely helpful and understanding.   One happy lady again :)

@Maz56... excellent news that you are now fully working.

I was just wondering though :-

 - who paid for the 20 min call? ... maybe you get free calls to TalkTalk numbers but other people may not.

 - did the tech people call you back or offer to?

 - if we have posted contact numbers in our profiles, why are those same tech people not ringing all the customers who have posted in this thread and restoring their access too?

 - was any kind of compensation for your time, inconvenience and lack of a full service mentioned during your conversations?

... enjoy your restored access ... :smileyhappy:

Hi, in answer to your questions.

It was a free call for talktalk customers found on the contact us button and there was no need for him to call me back.

I have no idea why they can't ring people who have left their details - I did tell him that there was a 2 page thread about the problem in the forum.  He didn't comment on that but he was aware of the problem!

No compensation was offered but then the problem only started (for me) today.

I think you just need to ring up and be firm (I'm an expert at that!) and not be fobbed off.

All seems to be working fine now.  If it happens again though i will leave as my contract period has expired.

Homesafe is blocking EVERYTHING!

Want to visit a computer forum, nope blocked due to " Social Networking", want to visit my own website which I administrate, nope blocked due to "Gaming". How about the Amstrad section for old retro computers, nope blocked due to " Social Networking"

But hey Facebook works, doesn't that also fall under "Social Networking "?

I have turned Homesafe off, it still blocks all my pages, I have turned it on and allowed Gaming/Social Networking, and even whitelisted the sites, nope blocked.

TALKTALK FIX THIS!

Homesafe is STILL blocking sites when supposedly switched off: when is something actuallu going to be done about this? It has now been 5 weeks since this issue arose and two weeks since your statement that "we are lookinf into" it. So far nothing appears to have happened!

It is EXCEPTIONALLY poor that all we've been told is that they are 'looking in to it' when it has been a number of weeks without any contact whatso ever. What is the service I am curently paying for as I am unable to even use the internet as was intended.

Time to leave Talk talk it seems

Hi,

I also have that issue with dating websites. I can't access my facebook, linked in and all the rest of it. My homesafe settings are turned off. Is there anything you can arrange for everything to work again?

Many thanks,

Mike
