Homesafe Blocking Issues

They are so *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* useless, it took them 24 hours to turn it off at their end! You have to call them up to get it fixed and that's if you can understand the off shore barrier. Which shows a cheap ISP

I did the same as Jaboomska, turned my router off and on, and everything seems to be back to normal.

This is just unacceptable from TalkTalk - how long has this been going on now?? I trust my monthly payment will be reduced considering I'm not getting what Talk Talk have contracted to provide??

Hi Everyone,

We are aware that Homesafe is blocking some websites for a small number of customers, when not active.

We have also added this to our Known Issues board.

If you do have Homesafe turned off, and some websites are showing as blocked by homesafe, please let me know here.

If possible, please let me know the website that is blocked, and please add your home phone number to your Community Profile  so we can raise your example to our engineers for investigation.

Thanks

Karl.

I've raised this several times: how many different places do you want this to be logged  before you actually do anything? Why is it that we have to contact you when you should be proactive: this unacceptable situation must be sorted, remedied and compensation paid without further delay.

I have said my piece on this subject a lot and there is still no resolution since the 23/7 I believe. Speaking to the 'loyalty tean' on the phone they claim that updates have been posted on the community but I can't see anything except what other people have been posting.

After numerous calls and being told to wait 24-48 hours after each phase, once again I am told my problem will be solved by 48 hours from 10am this morning but I don't hold my breathe.

I echo the sentiments from above that it is pretty poor that we as users have to chase this up without any updates or word from talk talk and what is even more funny is that when it comes down to compensation, again WE have to call and arrange it.

I wonder if anybody actually comes on to the community from talk talk to see the comments posted and responds or is it just a place where we can post in a poor attempt to try and make ourselves feel better.

According to Customer Prevention Sorry..... Service there is No Problem.........I had the computer set up as AOL wasn't interested in Talk Talk other hthan to pay the bills.

HomeSafe is blocking some  vBulletin forums.

I had detected some Spyware that appears to have been loaded at  approximatedly  the same times as TT  loaded HomeSafe?

I also noted that the Customer Service are pretty rude when you enquire EXCEPT when they speak of ungrading your Package.

As a slight aside but in relation to the HomeSafe issue, there appears to be an issue of Advertising Data, that again is an opt-out except you can't remove all

As you say Casper

"After numerous calls and being told to wait 24-48 hours after each phase, once again I am told my problem will be solved by 48 hours "

More a case of anything to get you off the Phone,(I was hung up on three times).

These forums are not real time, and the OCE’s typically work “normal” office hours and usually not weekends, so it can take 24 to 48+ hours for a new post to be picked up by the OCE’s for action, workload dependent, and can be longer at busy periods (and around weekends).

It may save a little time if you can check that your personal information is up to date (name, landline number is the key information), just select the link below :-

Personal Information.

But ..............................

Sometimes just turning the router off for 30 minutes clears the problem. More often turning your router off overnight will force a line reset which quite often re-initialises Homesafe back to your chosen settings. Worth trying whilst waiting for an OCE.

Failing that - hang on and an OCE will pick up your thread.

HomeSafe has been a problem for a long time, I spoke to someone who had this problem 3 years ago, which seems to me that either TT can't fix it or can't be bothered fixing it .

Incidently she said that on the help line at 60 minutes the call was terminated

Community Team

Hi guys, we're still collating and sending examples to the homesafe team so if you haven't already, please update your community profile to include your full name, landline and mobile number, so that I can pass your details over to the Networks team.

To add your details you click on MY SETTINGS above the thread in blue then choose PERSONAL INFORMATION after adding your details click save changes at the bottom of the page.

Hi Karl.

I spent over an hour on the phone to support yesterday.,....cleared caches. Turned off the router more than once. Home safe and kidsafe are 'off' . no joy. I need to access sites classified as porn.., not actually porn but classified as such for work purloined. This needs to be resolved or there is not point in me being with TT. I had no such issues before yesterday with punternet or adultwork sites. It's really frustrating. Can you help? Support were all very polite but could not fix

I phoned 020-3441-5550 which is the UK based call centre and the lady did a remote clear up it's better but not perfect(that's on Firefox , Opera and IE are much better , Chrome is at the same or slighty better than Firefox

Firefox freezes still, Chrome doesn't so far

Firefox might be due to their previous update

Incidently I got the number via a street selling team , I believe it was due to me voicing in a clear voice how bad their service and product were

Sometimes turning the router off overnight (as the longer outage will force a full line reset which can help clear this problem).

But it is a line issue, not a cache issue or browser problem.

Dirth -

Are you sure about the browser being an issue - no  other poster has ever suggested that the problem is effected by the choice of browser as Homesafe etc. is manged at the network level, not the individual users's pc.

It is more likely that the power cycling on your reset may have had an effect.

I know what your saying but the results were after the cleanup before all browsers were the same more or less IE was marginally better, afterwards with the stuff binned .....That was the result

Is it a Browser issue? I'd suggest the browser isn't helping things, it may well be HomeSafe is clashing with Firefox

Homesafe and Kidsafe etc. are managed on the network rather than on your device. That way it covers more or less any and all devices that are operating via your router. So it is operating system and browser independant. It (in theory) just compares the web address you are trying to access against your Homesafe settings. It seems to be the settings that are being corrupted.

The problems are being generated on the line at the network level, so require a reset. Quite often this can be achieved by switching the router off for a while so that it resets the line when you power back on. Sometimes only a 30 minute outage is required, more often overnight works. If neither of those work the OCE has to request the Network Team to reset from the exchange end.
