I am switching from TalkTalk to another provider - does this also cancel my Essential O2 ?
My contract with TalkTalk has ended and will be terminated on 21 january 2019 when I will switch to another provider.
My essential SIM with O2 costs £3pm and as far as I remember the contract on that runs until september 2019.
So does my Essential SIM mobile contract continue with Talktalk O2, or just with O2, or is it cancelled along with my broadband/phone contract. If it continues will it still be £3 pm ?
Help !
Ok ... that's great.
O2 has no record of an account with my number.
My TalkTalk shows nothing under mobile.
I pay £3 a month for Essential SIM to TalkTalk and my phone says it is connected to TalkTalk.
Dazed and confused.
I am not sure of how the deal with O2 worked, I moved elsewhere, but did you get a PAC code from TT and a new SIM card from O2 ?
What SMS or emails did you get ?
As soon as I requested a PAC code, this was emailed to me by TT
Who is collecting your £3 a month ?
I used TalkTalk chat and ... for other people in the same position ... I can continue just with TalkTalk Mobile at £3 pm. Which is good.

Also, be aware that TT have announced they will be discontinuing provision of mobile services sometime this year, so you'll have to move anyway.
Hi Alan
Martin is absolutely correct. Unfortunately, TalkTalk customer service aren't.
Your TalkTalk Mobile Essential SIM contract is on a rolling month by month contract requiring just 30 day notice on either side and is at a discount of £2 from the normal £5 price.
The Mobile contract doesn't get automatically cancelled when your Broadband and line rental service ends. However, when the broadband service ends you would normally expect to be charged the full £5 undiscounted price for the Essential SIM. You've been told otherwise by TalkTalk customer service so you have a case for disputing any charge increase.
Some time soon TalkTalk will notify TalkTalk Mobile customers that TalkTalk Mobile will cease operations. You'll get at least 30 days' notice. If you don't wish to keep the number then you need take no action. If you do wish to keep the number then you can ask TalkTalk Mobile for a PAC code to move your number to a mobile provider of your choice. Call on 0345 172 0096.
Thanks again Martin. Great advice to Alan.

All that is sometime, possibly, never. T&Cs change daily.... it's in the T&Cs.
The only sure thing is what happens when it happens. For now I am content. and will deal with the future as it happens.
Thanks to both of you for all your help, attempts and concern, very vigilant of you.
Keep up the good work.
Hi Alan
I'm pretty sure the T&C's don't change daily. The last time was in December 2018 and that was to describe the ownership of TalkTalk supplied first Router and TV Box and any replacements. No change then to TalkTalk Mobile T&C's.
My personal recommendation to you is to either give 30 day notice of closure of the TalkTalk Mobile account or to keep the number ask for a PAC code to port your Essential SIM mobile number to a new provider of your choice. When the porting happens your new provider will notify TalkTalk and your TalkTalk Mobile contract will cease.
You'll then have a positive closure and no hassle should TalkTalk's billing system automatically increase the Essential SIM billing to £5 a month.
