My samsung phone does not show an option to turn on WiFi calling.

I have checked model, android version etc and it is supposed to be on there.

Other suggestions are to check with mobile provider to see if they support wifi calling or if my sim is up to date.

I have tried turning off phone, removing Sim and reinserted twice and no difference.

Do I need an updated sim card.

I have escalated this topic for a response.

I have WhatsApp but the reason I am looking for WiFi calling is to  contact my elderly mother who doesn't have a smart mobile phone only a home phone.

I have bought her a mobile phone but she can't seem to be able to use it.

My mobile is with talktalk hence my query.

Yes. I do find the sound quality is not good on WhatsApp though, even with volume on maximum.

Have received a call via Messenger and it was crystal clear, so probably the better option.

Do you both have WhatsApp, or Facebook messenger?

If so could use one of the to make calls over WiFi.

@Gleha, my old phone used to show wi-fi calling but now doesn't, as I have my sim card now in the new phone.

So it won't even show the option if there's no Sim card in there.

Ultimately WIFI calling only works if the operator of the sim gives a good service. I am with Three, and when that is down across the network, wifi calling doesn't kick in. It only really works when the local signal is weak and wifi is able to give you a better call quality.

Thank you fr8ys

I have tried and believe my phone is compatible.

It's a real puzzle and I only need it now because I know I will be in an area with low mobile signal for a couple of days and need to be in touch with my 97 year old mother on a regular basis.

Will have to manage without if I can't find a solution.

Thank you Gliwmaeden2, the strange thing is that the option for wifi calling does not appear on the call settings at all.

I have googled if my phone is compatible and checked Samsung and you are correct it should show as your picture illustrates but it doesn't.

This doesn't appear to be uncommon and it was suggested it could be resolved by turning on phone without sim, waiting and then reinserted sim. Tried that twice but to no avail.

Other suggestions were sim needed updating or carrier didn't support wifi calling so last resort.

TalkTalk offer WiFi calling and have an article here.

Hope this helps.

Have you searched your phone on Google to check it's compatible as not all phones are. My 3 year old Motorola wasn't for example.

My Pixel is but it turns out my network doesn't support it.

It should be under call settings, so at the foot of the options when using the phone app. Controls for settings via the vertical 3 dots to the right of the search symbol, top right, @Gleha.
