Shetland : Series 4 : BBC One and iPlayer

BBC One : 13 Feb 2018 : 9pmBBC One : 13 Feb 2018 : 9pm

Douglas Henshall returns as DI Jimmy Perez for another series of this intense crime drama.

As bleak and depressing as Wallander and that's not just Perez it's the starkness of the landscapes as well. Inspired by Ann Cleeves' novels but with an original screenplay from David Kane it's a brooding police drama that will get you involved.

The six episodes begin on Tuesday 13 February at 9pm with the return to Shetland of Thomas Malone after serving 23 years in jail for the murder in 1994 of teenager Lizzie Kilmuir, a crime he swears he didn't commit. Whilst many islanders are convinced of Malone's guilt, his release on appeal has hinted at someone else being responsible for Lizzie's murder. But, as Malone arrives back on Shetland, local journalist Sally McColl is found murdered in similar fashion and Thomas Malone is prime suspect. Perez and the team investigate both murders.
