Strike : The Cuckoo’s Calling : BBC One

Community Star

Strike : The Cuckoo's Calling : BBC OneStrike : The Cuckoo's Calling : BBC OneStrike: The Cuckoo’s Calling begins on BBC One on Sunday 27th August at 9pm, followed by the second episode the next day.

JK Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series was written under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith.  In her first detective story, The Cuckoo’s Calling, Tom Burke (previously in The Musketeers) stars as the lead, Cormoran Strike, a former red-cap policeman turned private detective.  He's got a characterful backstory and now follows up shocking crimes with a female assistant Robin (Holliday Grainger).  Together, they investigate the death of supermodel Lula Landry, (real-life model Elarica Johnson) whose fall from a Mayfair balcony has been ruled a suicide by the police.

A cast of possible suspects, from Lula’s sweet-voiced uncle Tony (Martin Shaw) and her popstar ex-boyfriend to the mysterious homeless woman who Lula had recently befriended.  There are plenty of twists and turns, and comic moments, in the storyline to keep viewers guessing as Strike and Robin progress their enquiries in this totally entertaining mystery for the autumn evenings.
