My Exchange Pot Sync Speed has Increased - Can my profile be improved?

Last November I had problems with mega slow download speeds. This was eventually resolved by putting me on a fixed 4mb?
Since then this has been fairly stable, but recently encounrering some suprisingly high downloads then very low.
With this I noticed that my reported Potential Syncronisation Speed has increased from 4.3Mbps to now 8.5Mbps.

My equipment and location are identical and are fully functional
Can my account profile be changed to suit this new speed increase, please advise?

1 I am using the exchange at Kenton Exchange - Newcastle upon Tyne - 2.06Km straight line.
2 There is NO congestion it shows LIVE and there is no OUTAGE
3 I do not have any telephone extensions
4 I am connected directly to the BT NTE5 installed socket
5 I do not have any voice problems with the telephone
6 I am using a EchoLife HG520b RJ45 hard wired
7 I am Not using any extension lead

Hi Lasertek,

Sorry, don't know what caused the speed to drop then improve again, may have been intermittant noise on the line

Please let us know if the speed drops again

Thanks

Yes it has, now back to my normal speed of approx 4Mb.
Any specific reason for this, without any intervention?

Hi Lasertek,

BuffsMad is right, the IP addresses are not yet listed on the speedtester database.

Thanks

Their just rogue/new IP addresses - they have yet to be added to the speedtester database so they show as non-TT. Starts 92.XXetc.;)

Hi Lasertek,

Your SNR margin appears to be varying which could be the cause of the slow throughput, it looks like there may also be some drops in connection. I have backed the profile off to 12db interleaved which should give a greater margin.

Downsteam Rate 6307 kb/s
Upstream Rate 797 kb/s
Downsteam SNR 11.8 dB
Attenuation 46 dB

Thanks

Hi,

Download speeds now seem constant over the afternoon of 4-5Mb. But why the improvement from the earlier 0.5Mb when the profile has not been changed? TT Network?

If available a logical explanation would be appreciated as to why the wide speed range from ultra poor 0.5Mb to average 4-5Mb speeds with no profile or equipment changes.
I had this problem last November that lasted 1 month, and the only solution then was a 4Mb fixed profile? This has lasted fine until this week. Could it be my Kenton exchange current upgrade to over 8Mb causing my problems?

I will monitor this profile without any changes for a further few days, and hope that the download speeds stay constant.

Hi Debbie,

To date the 24ISNR9 profile is good and stable. I think my line does not like any noise lower than a 9 setting.

I have just started to experience ultra slow downloads. This is a s low as 190kbps and some of some my software updates are timing out due to being so slow. However the browsing is fine.
I do not know if it is the new profile or a network glitch (10.40am).

Edit.. 09:40 Sat My download speed is still very slow (500kb) and all attempted downloads are self timing out or breaking part way through.

I had this same experience last November where many profiles were attempted, and the final profile was a fixed format? Was there a reason for this and should I be put back to this type?

Edit.. At 15.30 Sat My speedtest was 5Mb+ and dowmloaded my software updates fully with no breaks.. I expect speed test discrepencies but Why the such a large difference 0.5 to 5.0+..? Is it all down to my current profile 24ISNR9 or the actual TT Network \ Exchange?

Please advise..Latest Router Info below..

Hi Ady,

Instant speed improvement with a 5.7Mb speedtest.

My 'old' post was on the second page when you were answering all new page 1 posts, thus wondering as to why? So bumped my post to page 1.

Anyway, thanks for the profile change. I will monitor.

Since my 5:58pm report last night I have been unable to successfully view pages due to the ultra slow connection speeds since my profile change yesterday.
It has also taken me since 9am this morning to gain access to this page to write this report.
Please check my profile account and change \ revert back where necessary.

Hi Ady,

My browsing has nearly ground to a halt. It is that slow the speedtest will not register.

Please advise if this is this profile or the TT exchange with problems?

Thanks.

Hi Lasertek,

I have moved you onto 8ISNR6 that should help. I am currently unable to see your status as our tool is misbehaving.

Let us know how you get on.

You will receive a customer satisfaction survey within the next week regarding your experience of using the forums. If you could spare a moment to complete this it would be appreciated.
