Four simple rules to stay safe this Christmas

Beat the Scammers

In the lead up to Christmas, it’s important that you stay one step ahead of scammers. We can help through our TalkTalk security features that come free of charge, but there’s even more you can do to further protect yourself.

Switch on TalkTalk security features

It's important to keep your TalkTalk security features switched on. These are telephone and internet security features that are completely free.

Screen any nuisance callers before they reach you. Dial 1472 from your home phone to switch it on today.

Scam Protection

Stops you from downloading a remote access tool that a scammer might use to access your computer.

Award-winning online security protecting your device from viruses, phishing scams, remote access scams.

Family-friendly web filter that blocks inappropriate content. Alerts stop you opening virus infected websites infected

Never allow remote access to your PC

Never log onto sites that allow another person to take control of your PC - we will never ask you to do this. This is a common scam tactic.

We've introduced an authentication requirement to use such sites through Homesafe which we know are regularly used by scammers to take control of our customer’s computers and steal from them.

If in doubt hang up and call us back

Always challenge anyone asking for personal information, including bank details, over the phone. If in doubt, hang up and call us back to check that the call was genuine.

Watch out for phishing email scams

Scammers often send emails claiming to be from genuine companies to try and trick you into giving them personal or security details. This is called phishing. We’ll never ask you for this kind of information.
