When my old YouView box was updated with a nice shiny new one I was very pleased. However, that new box had a few annoying issues and was itself replaced.
The new (new) replacement has started to randonly switch itself off. Sometimes it then comes stright back on but mostly it needs to be switched back on. When it does this whilst a recording is being watched, at least it resumes where it left off.
More annoyingly, it does this occasionally when set to record and fails to record. It even does it when no recordings are being watched.
Is tere a cure for this? I note that several users have posted this sort of fault and that the soft reset doesn't seem to solve it.
Am I correct in thinking these boxes are now no longer replaced?
You are correct that if the box is replaced it will be with a non-recording version.
Have you tried a maintenance reset as follows, this will KEEP your recordings providing that you select OPTION 2 :
Maintenance Reset Option 2 (Keep Recordings)
Turn the box off, then unplug the power lead for about 10 minutes.
Re-plug in power lead.
You will then need to reset your personal settings (such as parental controls / ANTENNA OUT / Surround Sound etc.) and also probably reset your scheduled recordings (It might be worth taking a note of future recordings before doing this so you don’t miss any).
It is also a good idea to restart your router once you have done this.
If you do NOT have any recordings that you want to keep :
Blue YV /Menu button on the remote > Settings > Factory reset. This option will re-format the hard drive and reinstall the system on your box and you will lose all recordings.
Again It is also a good idea to restart your router once you have done this.
My suggestion and instructions go much further than a soft reset as it fully reinstalls the Operating System.
try the full reset as advised and see if this helps.
