Why do TalkTalk no longer offer a recording tv box? What happens when our recording boxes fail? Will they be replaced with non-recording boxes?

Just to add to what @fr8ys said there are to my knowledge three major ISPs who still provide recording boxes, all associated with considerable premium prices for their TV services and all of whom are far more heavily invested in TV provision than TalkTalk. If you desire such features there are third-party alternative boxes available to buy on the open market, although these too seem to be fewer compared to recent years.

It was a commercial decision, based in part on research that said streaming was more important and on the increase, rather than recording.

As many attest on this and other forums, rather a short sighted view.

As for if your box fails, yes a non recordable box is offered if you are eligible for a replacement.
