TV Access Charge

Hi. I’ve just upgraded to fibre and I’m very happy with the improved speed and stability of the broadband connection. However my first bill for the new fibre broadband has coincided with the new £4 TV-access charge which has almost cancelled out the saving from the upgrade offer!

Can you please clarify what I actually get for the ‘access fee’ as I don’t use the ‘More TV’ app in the Youview box and have never used Boosts, rented films or used multi-room access. I presume I could connect any TV box to the broadband without the TV access charge.

I only want to watch and record Freeview channels and use the catch-up apps such as iPlayer and More4 and these are available via my smart TV anyway. If I only need to pay the TV access fee for boosts and film rental then could you please cancel the TV access portion of my subscription.

Incidentally my Youview box is over 4-years old (DN370-T) and no longer appears to be getting the software updates for new features, only maintenance updates. For example it does not have Synopsis in Guide, Watch Lists etc. and being this old I presume it would not be covered by a replacement if it failed.

Hi

I can opt you out of the upcoming TV charge but I'll need to confirm some security details to access your account.  I'll send a PM separately with the info required.

Please note however that when you opt out of TalkTalk TV you will lose access to add and remove TV Boosts flexibly.  You will lose access to TV Boost on demand content via the TalkTalk player.  You will also lose access to TV on the go services via the web and Mobile App.

Also, any current recordings you have made from a Boost channel will stop working when you are no longer subscribed to that channel.

Also, your box is older so a new one would not be provided if it failed however if you do want to take a new Box, our customer loyalty teams will offer a new updated Box free when you recontract with them.  This offer only applies to customers who have the DN370t model.

Thanks

Karl
