Recorded programs do not play back since the morning of 18/12/21. I tried a power off then back on, but no improvement. Photo shows screen before it goes blank.
Recordings are failing from 18/12/21
Live program works (displays OK with sound.)
BBC iplayer works

Hi

I'm glad the reset worked. Sorry you lost the previous recordings.

Thanks

Karl.

Thanks for your help. After Factory Reset - Delete Recordings, the TV box worked: record and playback worked.

It would be good if the effect of disk corruptions was minimised, so as to be very unlikely to have to lose recordings. We use the recording facility of the TV box all the time, so we are very disappointed that Talktalk are not going to keep supporting this feature.

HI

As frays mentions, the full reset is the only option.

Thanks

Karl.

There is, unfortunately, no other option if you wish the box to function again.

There is most probably, a corruption on the hard drive and the keep recordings option tries to repair bad sectors, but if this fails, the factory reset option reformats the hard drive to repair it.

If you look at other similar posts you will see this d work in 90% of cases. Where it does not work, the drive is beyond repair and if eligible a non recordable box is now offered in exchange.

Appreciate its annoying to lose your recordings, but if you wish to continue recording, it is,as said, your only option now.

I tried a software reset and this made no difference and I tried Factory Reset - Keep Recordings and this made no difference.

I would prefer not to have to try Factory Reset - Delete Recordings.

Hi,

Have you tried a soft reset? To do this hold the power button on the front for around 10 seconds and the box should restart.

If this doesn’t work then have you tried a YouView Maintenance Reset (https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/How-to-find-maintenance-mode/ta-p/1429347)?

Try the Factory Reset keep recording option.

You will then need to reset your personal settings (such as parental controls / Set antenna Out to On in Settings: Picture and Sound / Surround Sound etc.) and also reset your scheduled recordings (might be worth taking a note of future recordings before doing this so you don’t miss any).

If all else fails then try a full factory reset from the settings menu. You will lose your recordings but you may be asked to do this before the Support Staff look at other alternatives.

Please note that if you are eligible for a new box, TalkTalk now only supply non recordable ones., So it's best to try all alternatives if recording is important to you.

Hope it works but if not then please let us know and I’ll flag for further assistance.
