The audio output from my TV box is only in stereo even when I know the program I am watching ( such as a Netflix) is being transmitted in 5.1 audio. I have tried changing the settings from stereo to surround sound but it makes no difference. I find now that I'm using the Talktalk tv box less and less because my smart tv supports 5.1 output from sources such as Netflix.
Does anyone know if this a fault with my TV box or any suggestions how to fix the problem?

The box itself may not be tru 5.1 surround output, and this is not something that we can change.
