I believe all TV devices, whether boxes or televisions themselves, have now for a number of years been mandated to have a default go to standby mode after a certain period of time, in an ostensible nod to the green agenda. But it shouldn't happen without an onscreen warning and most devices have settings which you can adjust to suit your preferences. So either wave/tap your remote, or check the options in whichever device is switching off.
