I recently upgraded my account and talktalk TV is part of the package. I haven't been sent the viewing box. Also, do we have to buy our own router for the upgrade of the broadband package?

Depending on how well your current router performs, an upgrade is not always necessary, @rickeybull.
Maybe an idea to post back on here what router you currently have and what is the package you have updated to.
