Tv box won't wake up

TV box stuck on waking up; done resets, recommended software and factory, but ti no avail. I do have another box that belonged to my dad, will it be ok to simply replace my box with his (which was really not used) and is it a simple process?

That's fab! thankyou. Did manage to connect my dads old box, so have viewing, but it's a non-recordable box so bit limiting.
