Fibre to the cabinet

This is not a cry for help, more of a call for information.

With fibre to the cabinet, where does the 50 Volt line, and ringing voltage originate, is it from the cabinet equipment, or is the line still connected back to the exchange.

If the answer is, from the exchange, what happens when Openreach eventually decide to rip out all the copper wire, will the phone and any other equipment that uses the line voltage, stop working ?

If you are still on an FTTC service, yes. If you are switching to a Future Fibre service, then no.

27 October?

OK, thanks for  that, so I assume that there is still a wired connection back to the exchange for my phone line, plus a broadband connection to the fibre cabinet.

I'm wondering if TalkTalk know what day it is,  I received a text message yesterday, telling me my fibre upgrade is due to go live on 27th October, and that I should plug in my new router before then. I've been using it for nearly a Month 🙂 .

When the copper network is retired the old telephone network will retire with it, VOIP services will replace it.
