How UFO is installed

To connect your home to UFO, our expert engineers will either go underground by digging a small trench across your garden or drive, or overhead using existing Openreach poles. If they go underground they'll agree the route with you and put everything back to how it was when they've finished.

We've introduced some precautionary measures for our UFO engineers in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 which may affect your installation appointment. More information.

We'll do everything in one appointment that usually takes around 2 hours and we'll make sure you're up and running with Ultrafast broadband on all of your devices before we leave.

Here are some things to remember before your installation day:

  • If you don't own your home, it's important that you check with your landlord or freeholder to make sure we're ok to go ahead with the installation.
  • You can rearrange your appointment up to 12pm the working day before in My Account or by calling us on 0800 230 0272.
  • It's a good idea to block out an entire morning or afternoon for your appointment because installation times can vary.
  • Your Wi-Fi Hub and UFO Homeport will need to be plugged into two sockets near to each other and should be in the room where you use your internet the most.
