We have had a mobile number called from our landline while we were not in 21 calls in total all lasting 46 seconds and 1 to 2 minutes apart.

im told the only way to stop this is to bar out going mobile calls on the phone. Is this really  the only way?

Check that your landline number is as expected,  @chickennuggets, if you plug in a phone and dial 17070.

Sometimes there are crossed wires, or engineers run checks dialling up numbers which they shouldn't be using from your account.

@chickennuggets Have you tried the 17070 test given in Gliwmaeden2's post, it could be a crossed line.

Think we may have sussed it. We haven’t been in the house long but the alarm is connected to the phone socket we think it is ringing the mobile of the people who used to live here when the alarm goes off. Don’t know why it connects the call though and then keeps trying.
