Hi I was told by my current provider that engineers should not be entering the home due to covid and that any appointments made would be cancelled. Is this correct? I will need a full installation as joining from virgin?

Did Virgin tell you this? If so then I believe its a way of making you stay with them longer, and not migrating to TT-UFO. Funny how Virgin still offer home visits for installation works but they want you to think TT-UFO should not be allowed.
The TT-UFO is pretty safe, and contact free - the installer worn a face mask, and I cleaned down any area he had touched as I would have done naturally. Rest of the team stayed outside, and you are more at risk from your Postie than the installers.

Engineers will do all they can to activate a service remotely. What service are you ordering if it s FTTC and you have a BT socket already in the property you should be OK. If there is no socket it may be delayed.
