New router

How do I go about getting a replacement router with out spending an hour on the phone being asked to constantly switch of and the on again. The internet barely connects, but apparently ther is no fault. I'm lucky to get 20 MBs and I pay for 38. The connection drops constantly and I'm lucky if I can get any connection at all upstairs. This has only been happening for the last few weeks. My router is about 5 years old. It must be on it's way out.
