SMS compatable landline phones have been available now for the best part of a decade (see threads going back to at least 2010).
When is TT going to enable the use of SMS on landlines?
Get more ideas related to:
I agree - as a virtually non-speaker - I would find any additional utilities on the phone useful
Especially - the ability to send and receive text messages !!
@AJMSmith Thanks for your idea. This is not something that we're looking into at the moment, however it has been passed to our Products Team for future consideration.
Even "enabling" TT landlines to accept incoming txt messages would be a step in the right direction - I used to txt our BT landline - 20 years ago and it was read out - whats changed to make such a backwards step ?

I was told when switching from BT to TT that ALL landline services had equivalent TT functionality. It was a great way to send and receive texts that were to the household. Useful if you don't want companies to bother you at work. Switched to TT and now have no texts. Even though the telecoms spec sets out standards for SMS over landline. So not ALL services have an equivalent. Surprised TT have not switched this option on and then charged a £0.05 per text!
With the ever increasing requirement by financial institutions to use extra security surely now is the time to get this sorted. I for one don't want to use a mobile phone nor do I want to do baking on a phone. I do limited online banking anyway and keep it restricted to my home computer.
With regard increased texts coming through, surely giving one's mobile number will increase that anyway.
BT can do it, as said in earlier post, so it is really about time TT do.
Maybe a mass emailing of current CEO?

This was under "not right now" in 2017. Things have changed, security with banks has / is changing. TT should surely take this on board and make what seems a simple change to enable this facility. A comment from the company would be welcome.

They seem to want to be the technologically least capable ISP.
....maybe but TT works out quite cheap for me. I do think they could introduce the text / SMS to landlines though. As I've said, from something I read, it can't be too difficult. BT can do it apparently, not sure of any others.
The traditional landline service is a dying technology. I honestly cannot imagine any ISP devoting much investment going forwards, other than maintenance until the network becomes completely obsolete.
