Setting up email in Mac mail

Before getting started, it's a good idea to test your username and password in webmail , to make sure they're correct. Use the forgotten password link on the website to reset your password if you're having any issues logging in. It's recommend that you have the latest OS version on your device, the below steps are for devices with Mac Mail .

Here are ste steps to add your mail account to your device  for the first time.

To get you set up on your Mac computer, we've got the steps below;

1. Select the Mail icon and then select Mail from the top left corner
2. Select Add Account
3. Select Other Mail Account
   Type in your name as you'd like it to appear on sent emails
   Enter your Email address
   Enter your email password 
   Select Sign In
4. Uncheck the box for Notes, so only the Mail App is selected and select Done
5. Once  account is setup, select Mail in the top left corner and select  Preferences....
6. To change your Incoming Mail Server settings
   Select Accounts in the top menu
   Selecte the Server Settings Tab
   Under Incoming Mail server, uncheck the box for Automatically manage connection settings
   

   Ensure the Use TLS/SSL box is ticked

   Change the port number to 993
   Select Save
7. Your Outgoing Mail Server Settings should default to the correct settings, however if you wish to check these.

   Under Outgoing Mail server (SMTP), uncheck the box for Automatically manage connection settings

   Ensure the Use TLS/SSL box is ticked

   Change the port number to 587

          If you've had to make any changes select Save

Note: - Mail OS X may not be able to detect IMAP folders that are empty. If the correct folder is not available, log in to Webmail and place an email in the folder. Then try again.

Check settings

1. Select Mail from the top left corner of the Mac Mail Client
2. Select Preferences
3. Select your email address from Accounts
4. Select Server Settings Tab on right  
5. Under Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
   Username - Full email address
   Password - your email password
   Host name - mail.talktalk.net
6. Uncheck the Automatically manage connection settings box
   Ensure  the Use TLS/SSL box is ticked
   change the port number to 587
7. If you've had to make any changes select Save
