Internet keeps disconnecting. Had this issue just over a month ago and was sent a new router. This seemed to solve the issue, but now it has started again. Having to turn the data off my mobile phone as didn't realise I was using my data when the WiFi to the Internet was going off.

Thanks again Keith for your reply.  Speed appears fine. Have been with Talk Talk for years and never had an issue so maybe it is interference from other networks.  Will log a call with Talk Talk to see if they can investigate the issue.  I appreciated all the advice you have given me

Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.

Have you had TalkTalk’s Wi-Fi optimisation disabled on your Sagemcom FAST5364/5464 router? When this is enabled, as it is by default, it has the power to override any Wi-Fi configuration changes that I might suggest that you need to make. This will not help rectify this type of problem if Wi-Fi Optimisation is allowed to change my suggested settings. Only TalkTalk can do this for you, you cannot do it yourself. If not, just request they disable this for you in your reply.

In other words, I try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.

I only send this out to people who request it.

Hi Keith, thanks for your reply.

My router is a Sagemcom and I am on the fibre 35 package. The light stays constant white even when the Internet is not connected. I do not have any wired connections. Recently had a new router and wires which did solve the issue for a few weeks it seems unless I hadn't noticed it. It's definitely not an issue with my mobile phone as my phone is fine on the WiFi at work. . My phone keeps saying phone is connected but without internet

Hi Donkey88,

In addition to answering Keith's questions can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Alternative contact number

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks

Chris

Please can you elaborate by answering these few questions:-

1. What make/model of router do you have (if this is a TalkTalk router, these details will be on a label on the rear or underside of it)?
2. What package are you on?
3. What is the exact status of the lights on the front of the router when this happens?
4. If you have any wired connections, are they affected in the same way as wireless ones?
