Wifi changing channel overnight

Message 22 of 22

Hello. For the last few weeks the Wi-Fi has been resetting itself from channel 6 or 11, back to channel 1 which is what my neighbours router is set to. This is causing the 2.4ghz to drop out which is affecting my smart plugs and thermostats, also my Ev charger which is set to charge on off peak times. Is it possible to update the software or lock the channel to the desired channel.

Thanks for any help

Hello , Thanks for getting back in touch, the new router has arrived and installed. The new router would not connect at first because there was a fault with the line, which your people cleared and everything appears to be working fine at the moment. The 2.4 Ghz has not dropped out since the new router was installed.

I will send the old router back next week.

Thanks for all your help.

Is the new router connected at the test socket at the moment?

Hello, Thanks for getting back.

They have sent me a new router which I have connected, but unfortunately all I can get now is a flashing orange light.

I reconnected the old router and same thing, flashing orange light. I logged onto the router admin page and it says no internet connection. I am connected now using my phone as a hotspot.

Thanks

Hi Nobag

I think we should ask our faults escalation team to take a look at this. They will also contact you to discuss this further.

Would you like me to arrange this?

Hello, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the same same thing is happening.

I put the router onto channel 6 or 11 and it works fine.

Until some time overnight it reverts to channel 1 and then the 5GHz works, but the 2.4GHz is lost.

I then have to reset to channel 6 or 11 and reboot the router. (my neighbours router is on channel 1)

I don't know what is causing the router to change channels, but If the the channel could be locked on 6 or 11. I think it would be more stable.

Thanks Again

Hi, Thanks for the response, I have to reboot the router every day to get the 2.4ghz working again.
