To TalkTalk

Everything was OK re WIFI until yesterday.

All my devices that used to be under 5GHz have now been put under 2.4GHz and vice versa.

Please disable WIFI optimization now.

Don't do it again.

Please stop connecting to my router at least once a day.

Hi Bill

Did you split the SSID's previously? (separate 2ghz and 5ghz)

Hi @Debbie-TalkTalk

You get up very early.

What do you mean 'revert the SSID split back'?

Do you mean to have separate 5GHz and 2.4Ghz networks within my network,

or to have the 5GHz and 2.4Ghz networks joined together within my network?

The issues were pointed out in my message to @Chris-TalkTalk yesterday above at ‎09-04-2024 04:16 PM.

I asked @Chris-TalkTalk how does he propose to change my settings back to where they were? He didn't answer.

Did you inform the Devices Team, what I asked @Chris-TalkTalk ?

Bill

HI Billx

Our Devices Team have asked if you could revert the SSID split back. They have also asked what issues you are experiencing specifically and the dates and times please so we can re-check the data.

Hi Billx

I'm really sorry about this.

I have asked our Devices Team to take a look at this and I will post back as soon as I have further information.

Thanks

@Chris-TalkTalk

Its seems very likely that in the last couple of days, TalkTalk reenabled WIFI optimization.

Could you please disable it again?

@Chris-TalkTalk

This computer shows that I am connected to my 5GHz network name, but its speed is only 2.4GHz. My WIFI speeds has been reduced

from 866/866 to 144/144

Now it has gone again to 5GHz and 866/866. My 2nd device has also gone again to 5GHz and 866/866 Mbps

However, there are still problems, the name of my 2.4GHz network has had its name changed to that of my 5GHz network, in other words they are not separated.

Secondly the channel in the 5GHz network has been changed from 52 to 36,

and the channel in the 2.4GHz network has been changed from 6 to 11.

So, how do you propose to change them back to where they were?

The router please. If you could just switch it off and leave it off for about 5 minutes, then switch back on and retest

What type of reboot do you want @Chris-TalkTalk ? Via the router on my computer screen?

I'm sorry, we can't disable wifi optimisation at the moment. If you could try the reboot and if there's no improvement we would have to pass it to our product team to take a look

Hi @Chris-TalkTalk

Have you disabled WIFI optimization?

I don't think my devices will be returned to their correct 5GHz and 2.4GHz network, without manual intervention from me, but as far as I know, that will be after you have disabled WIFI optimization. Also there's nothing for me test.
