Managing your eero secure content filters

You can enable content filtering from within the Parental Controls section of eero secure. You can enable on each individual profile which will apply the settings to every device in that profile.

 

Managing your content filters

 

Manage your content filters from within your eero app via the Discover or Home  tabs.

 

Discover Tab

  1. Select Discover
  2. Select eero Secure
  3. Select Content Filters
  4. Select a profile you'd like to edit 
  5. Select a filter you want to add to the profile and review what's been selected
    • There are four levels available: Pre-K (Ages 0-5 years); Pre-Teen (Ages 6-12 years); Teen (13-18 years) and adult (18+ years)
  6. Select Apply
    Note: Once the the filter has been applied you'll be able to configure the settings further.  

 

Home Tab

You'll need to ensure you already have a profile created in the app, check out creating a profile  for more information on how to do this before proceeding:

  1. Select the profile from the home screen
  2. Select Content Filters
  3. Select a filter you want to add to the profile and review what's been selected
    • There are four levels available: Pre-K (Ages 0-5 years); Pre-Teen (Ages 6-12 years); Teen (13-18 years) and adult (18+ years)
  4. Select Apply
    Note: Once the the filter has been applied you'll be able to configure the settings further.  

Remove content filters from the content filters settings for each profile and toggle off any categories you no longer need. Remember this should take effect straight away, but it may take longer depending on the device and browser. You can always clear your browser cache to speed things up. 

 

What happens when a site is blocked 

Anyone trying to access a blocked site on your network will be redirected to a holding page with the following message. If you've incorrectly blocked a site follow the steps above to manage your filters.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but this site has been blocked. If you believe that this site was categorised incorrectly, you can report it as inaccurate.

If you believe a site should be blocked but isn't and vice versa, you can either add the site to your block list, or report the blocking via the report Inaccuracy link at the bottom of the holding page. 

 

Monitoring what's been blocked

As well as being able to block content, you're also able to view which sites and content has been blocked across the network within the activity tab in your eero Secure app. 

  1. Select the Activity Tab
  2. Select Content Filter
  3. Select one of your profiles then view the information by day, week or month

You'll be able to view which devices attempted to access which content, this is updated within an hour of the event. 

 

Block a site

Don't forget you can use the Block list within your eero Secure app to target a specific website on your network.
