Wi-Fi Extender Kit guide

No ratings

Our Wi-Fi Extender Kits work with your router to extend your Wi-Fi signal, so you can do more online in more of your home.

The Kits are made up of two parts; the Network Connector which you connect to your router, and the Wi-Fi Extender which you put wherever you want to strengthen your Wi-Fi signal.wifi_pla_both_products

Once you've plugged the Wi-Fi Extender Kit in, it will connect to your home's electrical wiring and make your Wi-Fi go further. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about getting set up.

Top tips

Before you get started, take a look at our top tips:

  • Unplug any Powerline Adapters, Wi-Fi Repeaters, Extenders or whole-home mesh Wi-Fi solutions you're currently using.
  • Plug your Wi-Fi Extender and Network Connector directly into your wall sockets. Extensions, surge protectors and three-way plug adapters can stop them from working properly.
  • Once you’ve set up your Network Connector you may find that you have no free socket. You can use your Network Connector as a socket to plug in any other device.
  • Don’t plug your Wi-Fi Extender in near household appliances that use a lot of power, like your washing machine or fridge.
  • Avoid charging devices like your mobile phone next to your Wi-Fi Extender.
  • Keep your Network Connector and Wi-Fi Extender switched on at all times to get the latest updates.

Here's how to get set up. Before you start, unplug any powerline adapters, Wi-Fi repeaters or whole-home Wi-Fi mesh solutions you're currently using.

  1. Plug one end of your Ethernet cable into the yellow Ethernet port on the back of your Router, and the other into your Network Connector.

  4. Plug the Wi-Fi Extender (the device with the antennas) into another socket in the same room, close to the Network Connector. You will be able to move the Wi-Fi Extender at the end of the set-up.

Here's how to pair your Wi-Fi Extender Kit with your TalkTalk Wireless Powerline Adapters. Please be aware that your Wi-Fi Extender Kit is not compatible with any non-TalkTalk powerline adapters or equipment.

  1. Set up your Wi-Fi Extender Kit using the steps above.
  2. Plug in your old TalkTalk Powerline Receiver (the one that wasn't connected to your router) and switch it on. You won't need the Powerline Transmitter.
