Switching to virgin

I'm switching to virgin media however my number is still in the process of porting so according to who I spoke to on TalkTalk I won't get my cancellation date/final bill until this is ported/ they receive notice of the port request. According to virgin the request is in and I have the port in date but not I've not received any cancellation info from TalkTalk, would this come once the number has been ported or should I have receive this already?

The information from TalkTalk is essentially correct. The number migration to Virgin Media, when it happens, will trigger a notification to TalkTalk and a cease of your service that will trigger a final bill.
