I see you've started a topic in the fibre forum so we'll let that topic take over the query about the connected devices.

Ran checks. Says 18 devices connected. Including 4 I don't recognise. When I log into router says 10 devices connected!

Not easy to diagnose but you could start by doing a service centre check.

https://www.talktalk.co.uk/help/servicestatus

Follow the guide and if that indicates router issues then post a new topic in the Help with your service Fibre forum to ask TalkTalk Support for help.

Don't worry, every Wi-Fi Hub with the current software version would be the same and TalkTalk would place updated software on the update server so your Hub would do its routine connection to that server to pick up the update.

Thanks again Gondola,

If worried there might be a virus what can I do?

Only the TalkTalk auto-update server has access to update the Hub and only when the Hub itself initiates an update connection.

No antivirus software would be able to quarantine any part of the router firmware.

My advice is just to scan your computer / devices in the normal way.

Hi thanks.

I have subscribed to F-Secure and am in the process of adding and scanning all my devices. I would still like to check there is nothing lurking on my router. If I cannot scan it can I reinstall the firmware? If so where can I download it from?

The Wi-Fi Hub is fully up to date.  I can tell you that new software is being prepared for delivery to TalkTalk customers to improve performance and when that software is released your Hub is designed to update automatically.

If you're a TalkTalk Consumer customer and the router/hub hasn't automatically been updated then TalkTalk can push an update to the device.

What model router/hub is it and what is the software version?

The solution is to have TalkTalk keep your router/Wi-Fi Hub automatically updated which happens as standard and to keep the built in router firewall active as a barrier from Internet threats. Keeping your Wi-Fi and Router passwords strong is essential so only you have access to the router/Wi-Fi Hub.

Change your router admin password

Change your Wi-Fi name and password
