Managing eero profiles and devices

You can set up profiles for yourself and your family using the eero app. For your first profile, you’ll be asked to add a profile during setup. You'll need to enter your phone number and email address, then enter the security code sent to your phone number to create your account. Once you've downloaded the app and set up your personal profile, you can then create profiles for each of your family members.

Creating additional profiles

  1. On the eero app home screen, select the blue + button
  2. Type your desired name into the Profile Name field
  3. Select each device on your network that you'd like to connect to this profile. Each device can only be linked to one profile, so you may want to associate shared devices (such as your television) with the person who manages your network
  4. Select Done to save your changes

You may need to set up additional Administrators on your network, for example, for two parents to have access to Parental Controls. You must have Administrator access already to be able to provide access to other users

Standard setup

  1. Select Settings
  2. Next, select Network users
  3. Select the blue plus button to invite a new admin to your network
  4. Select Invite admin, and ask the new admin to scan the on-screen QR code with their device's camera. If the admin's device doesn't allow you to scan a QR code, move onto the 'No QR Code setup' steps below.
  5. Once they have signed up, they will appear in Network users under the 'Admin' heading

no qr code setup

  1. On the Invite admin screen, Select Share invite link
  2. Type a name in the Name field and select the arrow to continue.
  3. Select the app you wish to use to send the signup link, and then send the link to the new admin
  4. Once they have signed up, they will appear in Network users under the 'Admin' heading

When you connect a device to your eero network, you will be able to see this in the eero app. This also allows you to associate a device with a profile, so you can track who is using the internet at a given time and what devices they're using. This will also allow you to set profile restrictions such as parental controls for younger members of your household.

Adding a device

  1. Select the profile you wish to update
  2. Select Add a Device
  3. Select the tick box next to the device(s) you want to add to the profile
  4. Select Save to confirm your changes

Removing a device

  1. On the home screen, select the device you wish to update
  2. Select Profile to reassign the device. You can then either:
    • Select a new profile to assign the device to
    • Select Add a Profile to associate this device with a new user
    • Select Remove from profile to remove the device from the user's profile
  3. Select the back arrow to confirm your changes

When you first connect a device to your eero network, you will be able to see this in the eero app home screen. Your device will have a product name or code number associated to it — you can leave this be if you're only using devices belonging to you. However, if you're sharing your household with multiple users, you can soon lose track of which devices are on the network and who they belong to. To help with this, you can rename each device to something memorable: For example, changing the display name to "Peter's mobile" or "Jody's laptop" will let you know at a glance who and what device are on the network at any time:

  1. On the home screen, select the device you wish to update
  2. Select the device's display name, then overwrite it with the updated name
  3. Select Done to save your changes

You can update your mobile number and email address within the eero app. Note that you will only have this option if you created an eero account when you set up your eero for the first time. If you used an Amazon account when setting up your eero network, please visit the Amazon website to update your details.

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Account
  3. Select the Mobile or Email field, type your changes, and select Next. This will take you to a verification screen.
  4. You should receive a verification code either through phone or email – whichever you just updated.
  5. Enter the code in the verification screen to save your changes

If you want to grant access to visitors, you can activate a temporary guest Wi-Fi access key for them to use during their visit.

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Guest access
  3. Select the slider next to Guest network to enable or disable the Guest Wi-Fi network
  4. Once enabled, select Share QR code to provide a scannable QR code for your guest to log in with using their device. Alternatively, select Share Wi-Fi details to share the login details with your guest using an app

Once you've set up a profile for a user and associated some devices to it, you can restrict access to the account on a given basis. This is different to your eero Secure settings, as you can give different restrictions to a profile than on the network itself, meaning you can set up every profile with the settings they need to view content safely. To set up profile-based restrictions, select the profile you wish to amend the settings for on the eero app home screen. Under Parental controls, you should have three options.

Setting content filters for the account

  1. Select Content Filters to set the age rating available to the content.
    • There are four levels available: Pre-K (Ages 0-5 years); Pre-Teen (Ages 6-12 years); Teen (13-18 years) and adult (18+ years)
  2. Check the allowed categories list for the type of content the user will be allowed to view. If you're happy with that level of restriction, select Apply
  3. Otherwise, press the X button to cancel, and then select a new restriction level from step 1

Blocking apps

  1. Select Block apps in the profile menu
  2. Select the tick box next to each app you wish to block. If the app does not appear in the automated list, use the Search function to find the app
  3. Select save to confirm your changes

Blocking websites

  1. Select Block and Allow Sites in the profile menu
  2. Select the Blocked tab, and then Add Blocked Site
  3. In the Domain field, type in the web address for the website you wish to block
  4. Select Save to block the website

Allowing websites

  1. Select Block and Allow Sites in the profile menu
  2. Select the Allowed tab, and then Add Allowed Site
  3. In the Domain field, type in the web address for the website you wish to allow
  4. In the Reason to allow field, select one of the options
  5. Select Save to allow the website. It will now appear on the Blocked tab in the previous screen

Removing a Blocked or Allowed website

  1. In the Blocked or Allowed tab, select the website you wish to remove from the list
  2. Select Delete Site
  3. In the popup menu, select Delete Site to remove the site from the Blocked or Allowed list
