Audio Description provides a narrative of what’s being played on the TV screen. The soundtrack from the programme will come through the speakers as normal and in addition to this, a narrator will explain what’s happening on the screen.
Unfortunately, not all programmes provide Audio Description. However, you can check if your chosen programme has this service by following instructions below for each of our TV boxes.

Programmes that support Audio description will have the symbol [AD] in the TV guide. You can also check for the icon by pressing the 'i' button on the remote control on a selected programme.
To enable the Audio description:
- Press the Home button on your TV Hub remote
- Select Settings (cog)
- Select Accessibility
- Select Audio Description
- Press OK on your remote to toggle the options on/off
Changing the volume
You'll see a range of volume options in the Audio Description menu. Select the required volume from Very Low to Very High. You can always come back to this menu and change it at a later date.

- Select Settings
- Select Accessibility
- Use the arrow keys to highlight 'Enable audio description' and press OK.
You can also enable audio description by playing the programme and selecting the setting icon on the panel displayed at the bottom of the screen. Use the right key on the remote to select Audio description.
Changing the language
Audio Description is provided by some channels for visually impaired users. This service provides extra commentary in gaps between dialogue that describes the action, body language, facial expressions and anything else that helps viewers to understand the scenes being shown. The language preference depends upon the channel / broadcaster.
- Press the Info button on your remote
- Programme information will be displayed, along with [AD] if Audio Description is supported
Enabling Audio Description
The quickest way to set up Audio Description is to use the dedicated button on your TalkTalk remote. Simply press the Audio Des or AD button to switch the service on and again to switch it off. You can also enable this service from the main menu on your TalkTalk TV:
- Press the Youview / Menu button on your remote
- Press the up arrow to select Settings
- Select Audio Description
- Select OK to either turn the setting on/off
- Select Done to save your changes
Changing the volume and language
You can adjust the language and volume by following the below steps:
- Press the Youview / Menu button on your remote
- Press the up arrow to select Settings
- Select Audio Description
- Select Language then use the up and down arrows to select your preferred language
- Select OK
The volume can be adjusted in a similar way from the Audio Description menu. Select Volume and use the up and down arrow keys to select your preferred volume. When you're happy with your choice select Done.
