Subtitles are a great accessibility feature that provide a text version of the dialogue on a TV programme or film. They're usually displayed at the bottom of the screen to be as unobtrusive as possible. We recommend checking the individual programme to see if subtitles are supported as not all broadcasters supply this service.
See below for instructions on how to turn subtitles on or off for each of our TV boxes.

- Press the Home button on your TV Hub remote
- Press the up arrow to select Settings (cog)
- Select Accessibility
- Select Subtitles
- Select the Display toggle to turn on subtitles
- Choose all your set up options within this menu. You'll be able to view what they look like on the left of the screen.
- Once you've chosen the best option for yourself, press Back on your remote
- Press the Home button on your remote
- Select Settings
- Select Accessibility
- Select Subtitles and choose the language you would like the subtitles to appear in
You can also enable subtitles by playing the programme and selecting the 'Settings' icon on the programme panel displayed at the bottom of the screen. Use the right key on the remote to select the language subtitle you want.
The quickest way to set up subtitles is to use the dedicated button on your TalkTalk remote. Press the Subtitle / Sub button to switch the service on / off. You can also enable this service and change the language from the main menu on your TalkTalk TV:
- Depending on which remote you have, press the Menu or youview button
- Press the up arrow to select Settings
- Select Language & Subtitles
- Press the OK button to turn this setting on or off
- Select Done to save your changes
You can set the subtitle language in the Language & Subtitles menu. Select Subtitle Language and use the up and down arrows to select your preferred language.
To check whether your chosen programme has subtitles:
- Press the Info button on your remote
- Programme information will be displayed, along with [S] if subtitles are supported
