SuperSafe for Mac

Protect yourself and your family online with our award-winning software, developed by Internet security specialist F-Secure. Recently improved, TalkTalk SuperSafe protects you against Internet threats including viruses, worms, spyware, phishing attacks and hackers and also includes parental controls.

Systems requirements

TalkTalk SuperSafe for Mac only supports macOS 10.9 and higher. We strongly recommend you have the latest version by updating from the Mac App Store.

  • Processor: Intel
  • Memory requirements: 1 GB or more
  • Disk space: 250 MB free disk space
  • Internet (LAN or Wi-Fi) connection to validate your subscription and receive updates

Follow the steps below to opt-in for SuperSafe in My Account. If you've already opted in, go on to Step 2.

  1. Log in to My Account
  2. Select Profile & Settings in the navigation dropdown menu
  3. Select My Security Settings in the dropdown menu
  4. Under SuperSafe online security select Find out more
  5. Select the radio button for SuperSafe in the section called Manage your security
  6. Then choose the Confirm order button
  7. Once you've done this, you'll be sent your username, password and download link in an email from F-Secure.

 

We recommend keeping the email safe and if you forget your password, you can reset it by selecting Forgot your password?

 

You will only be sent the email containing your username and password once. If you cancel, restart the subscription or upgrade/downgrade, you won't receive another email from F-Secure

Unable to find your activation email?  If you've still not received your activation or the forgotten password link email then it's worth checking your spam folder in Webmail.

Step 2 - Install TalkTalk supersafe on your device

You'll need to do this part on your Mac

  1. Open your F-Secure email and select the download link
  2. Alternatively, you can open Safari, login to SuperSafe through My Account, then select Add Device
  3. On the next screen, Select Download for Mac
  4. Find the download on your computer and double-click it to start installing
  5. Select Install for all users of this computer and then select Continue
  6. You have the option to Change the Install Location and then  Select Install
  7. Then you'll have to allow this, log in with your Username and Password and select Install Software
  8. Select Continue again
  9. Then you'll get the login screen, select forgotten password add your email 
  10. Enter your Mac username and password to authenticate the installation. Select Install Software
  11. Your installation has been successful
  12. You now need to give your device a name, for example, My MacBook. Select Continue
  13. You'll now need to install a new browser extension. Select your browser from the drop-down menu and select Install now
  14. You'll see have to restart your browser
  15. The following message will pop up, select Trust or Install
  16. You have now successfully installed the Browser extension

 

If you'd like to share a license with a family member, follow the instructions below:

  1. Login to the SuperSafe App
  2. Select Add person
  3. Enter the details of the person you'd like to share a license with (First Name, Last Name and Email Address)
  4. Select Send Invitation

The person you've shared a license with will receive an activation email including a link to create an account in order to join your group. Once the person has registered they can protect their devices. Other people who are in the group can view which of their own devices are protected by SuperSafe . You as the main account holder can see all devices in the SuperSafe App

 

Releasing licenses

Follow the steps below to release your device

  1. Simply log in to the SuperSafe App
  2. Select the device you would like to revoke the license from, for example, My Mac
  3. Select Release license

 

Please follow the steps below to uninstall SuperSafe from your device:

  1. Open Finder
  2. Select Applications located in the left-handed side menu
  3. Locate the TalkTalk SuperSafe 
  4. Double-click the Uninstall TalkTalk SuperSafe app
  5. Select Uninstall
  6. To finalise the uninstallation of TalkTalk SuperSafe for Mac, your web browser needs to be restarted. Select Restart web browser
  7. Your uninstall is now complete. Select OK

 

You have the choice to invite a person to protect their device on the SuperSafe App You also have the power to revoke licenses

 

  1. Select the icon located in the top toolbar
  2. Simply  select Virus and spyware scan
  3. You can also choose which folders you'd like to run a virus scan for. Simply select the icon and select Choose what to scan.

 

  1. Select the  icon located in the top toolbar
  2. Select the Tools tab
  3. Select the Disable firewall button

    To re-enable the firewall follow the same steps and select Enable firewall

    If you want to disable real-time scanning then open TalkTalk SuperSafe using the 
     icon, then select Preferences. Here you can alter real-time scanning settings. For full protection,  we strongly recommend you leave the firewall, real-time scanning and the Security cloud on. 

 

Banking

  1. Select Preferences
  2. Select Browsing protection
  3. Here you have the option to Turn Banking protection on or off, simply by ticking or unticking the box.

 

Virus protection

  1. Select  Preferences
  2. Select Virus protection

 

Browsing protection

  1. Select preferences
  2. Select Browsing protection
  3. Here you have the option to Turn Browsing protection on or off, simply by ticking or unticking the box

 

 

TalkTalk Supersafe software update

TalkTalk SuperSafe updates automatically with an internet connection. Select the   icon located in the top toolbar and you'll see a drop-down menu, from this select Open TalkTalk SuperSafe.

You'll see the status of SuperSafe. (if you've just connected to the internet, the status can take a few seconds to update.
