Why Fibre isn't available in your area

Over 22 million UK homes now have access to Fibre broadband. However, there are still some customers who can’t order Fibre yet. Here’s why.

Our services aren’t available in your area

We offer phone and broadband services to around 95% of the UK, so there's a small portion we don’t cover yet. If your exchange isn't within our range, you won't be able to order our services. The good news is we’re constantly investing in our network and working with an increasing number of suppliers to offer the largest footprint accross the uk, so keep checking our website for availability in your area.

Your line doesn’t support Fibre

The majority of UK homes are connected to a green cabinet, which is connected to the local exchange. However, a small number of homes have a line that connects directly to the exchange. These are called “exchange only” (EO) lines. If you have an EO line, or your line is simply too long to carry a stable Fibre connection, then you won’t be able to get Fibre from TalkTalk or any other provider.

We work with a number of suppliers to ensure more customers get access to fast, reliable, stable broadband and that footprint increases weekly so it's worth to keep checking on our availability checker

Your exchange hasn’t been upgraded

Whilst we understand it's disappointing that full fibre isn't yet available in your area, the good news is that TalkTalk work with a variety of FTTP suppliers meaning we have one of the largest footprints in the UK.

Keep checking the TalkTalk website regularly so you can order full fibre as soon as one of suppliers roll it out in your area, you can check on our availability checker

Your green cabinet hasn’t been upgraded

Openreach might have upgraded your exchange for Fibre broadband, but not yet upgraded every green street cabinet connected to that exchange. You might find that neighbours in nearby properties or streets can get Fibre, but you can’t. This is because they are connected to a different green cabinet. If your green cabinet hasn't been upgraded you won’t be able to get Fibre broadband from any provider, including TalkTalk.

Fibre is temporarily unavailable

Even if a green cabinet has been upgraded for Fibre, it can run out of capacity. When this happens an engineer will need to install additional Fibre ports in the cabinet. This can result in a short period of downtime during which you won’t be able to order Fibre.
