Since 27th January I have not been able to get emails on my Android phone. I am unable to set up a new account, it states Incoming server not verified. I have spoken to Talk Talk on 2 occasions for over an hour and they cannot help me. Please can someone help. I am able to get my emails on my laptop, but not my phone. I have used the correct settings to set up a new account, but it will not accept it

Hi J13ses, I've added your mailbox to today's list of those to be returned to full function.

The Samsung A40 is capable of secure mail using the email app 6.1.75 but, as previously mentioned, the email app will not authenticate until TalkTalk Support do restore IMAP access to the mailbox. A request for full access is in. TalkTalk Support will respond here next week to let you know that access for the email address in your Community profile Private notes will be restored.
In the meantime, use webmail via an up to date browser to keep in touch.
To clarify, the Samsung email app server settings are:
IMAP Incoming server: mail.talktalk.net
Security type: SSL
Port: 993
SMTP Outgoing server: smtp.talktalk.net
Security type: TLS
Port: 587
Require authentication to send emails: ON
If you access mail on your laptop, other than via an Internet browser, then that laptop and email software must support secure mail settings. Webmail is secure by design on an up to date browser. Some older devices and older email software is not capable of secure mail to the required standards. But you've not confirmed to me how you use the laptop to access your mailbox. Remember that any continued use of insecure settings will get the mailbox IMAP access withdrawn which is why the offer is here to check all the ways you connect to the mailbox.

Hi, thank you for your reply, if you could request restoring access that would be appreciated. I am using a Samsung A40, presumable the Samsung email app, version 6.1.75.0. I have just tried again using your guide to Android and it says 'Couldn't verify account' IMAP access is not turned on for this account?

Your mailbox will be limited to webmail only because of continued use of insecure settings. Are you sure you do have the correct settings? The Android email app will not authenticate until TalkTalk Support do restore IMAP access to the mailbox. I can request that for you but the soonest that will happen is next week.
Prepare for TalkTalk Support - include in the Community Profile (not in these public posts):
Account holder name, TalkTalk home 'phone number (if not Data Only broadband)
Alternative mobile contact number. Full address with postcode (in the Location box)
Scroll down to Private notes to add the email address and account number
Check and Save changes
Select here: Update your profile
Are you using any other method to access your mailbox other than webmail. Webmail should work.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.
Let us know what the mobile phone is, what email app you're using and what the email version is. Also any other devices, operating system and email app version. All mail collection services and email apps must use secure settings.
I'll provide the guide to Android device setup below.
