TV Software updates

We're committed to making the TalkTalk TV service the best it can be. We're always working hard to bring you the latest features and performance improvements to help you get the most out of your TalkTalk TV service. 

It's best to make sure you have the most up to date software as this will provide the best performance and ensure you can enjoy any new features we've added. Providing your TV box is connected to the internet it'll automatically check for updates. It's quite likely you've got the latest software already.

checking your software is up to date

Your TalkTalk TV Box requires the latest software to ensure it's performing at its best and has the latest features available.

Your TalkTalk TV Hub requires the latest software to ensure it's performing at its best and has the latest features available.

You can see the current software version and manually check for an update in your Settings menu. You'll need to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable to complete any software updates.

TV Hub updates

  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Press the up arrow to select Settings (cog)
  3. Select Device Preferences
  4. Select About
  5. Select Release to view the current software version
    or
    Select System Update and your TV Hub will automatically check for any new software updates. Select Check for updates if you want to manually check again.

App updates

From time to time App providers will release updates to their apps for improvements, bugs or security issues. You can check and download any updates available by following these simple steps:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Select Apps and then All Apps
  3. From the Apps list select Google Play Store
  4. Press the up arrow to select your Profile
  5. Select Manage apps and games and then Updates (You might see a number of pending updates)
  6. Select Update all

If you ever need to check the current software version of your apps, please follow these instructions following on from the steps above:

  1. Select On this device from within the Manage apps and games menu
  2. Select the App or Android system you want to check and press OK
  3. Press the up arrow to highlight the app text description and press OK 
  4. You'll see the latest update under CURRENT VERSION on the right hand side

 

You can see the current software version and manually check for an update in your Settings menu. You'll need to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable to complete any software updates:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Advanced
  4. Enter your PIN
  5. Select Connect to our services. If there's a software update available, your TV box will start upgrading automatically. If it's already fully updated, you'll see the message 'Our services were contacted successfully'.

 

Software updates are there to ensure your TalkTalk TV Box is performing at its best and to iron out any faults. 

If you'd like to check for an update manually and see the current software version your TalkTalk TV box is on you can do so using your remote control:

  1. Depending on which remote you have, press the Menu or youview button
  2. Press the up arrow to select Settings
  3. Select Software Information
  4. Select Update software

Beta mode

Want the latest features first? Turning on Beta mode means that we'll send you the latest features before anyone else. All you need to do is turn on the Beta mode on your TalkTalk TV box. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. From the More TV home screen, select the 'Your Account' option (top right of the screen)
  2. In the Account menu, highlight Beta Mode and select to turn it on
  3. Confirm you wish to enter Beta Mode
  4. Press 'Back' on your remote to exit the Account menu
  5. Beta mode is now turned on

To exit Beta mode, follow the same steps again but this time toggle Beta mode to 'off' and confirm.

 

 

If your TalkTalk TV box will not update to the latest version of software, then please carry out a Factory Reset.
